Cookie policy
This page says which cookies this site uses, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how to review your choice.
01In short
This site uses cookies. The ones needed for the page to work are essential. Measurement and advertising cookies only run if you say yes, and until you choose, none of them runs.
You can review your choice at any time, in section 06 of this page.
The name of each one, what it does, and how long it lasts is in section 04.
02What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device when you visit, which lets it recognize you when you come back.
Some cookies are useful. They remember what you put in a cart, or the language you picked. Others exist to follow where you go, inside the site and beyond it, and to build a profile of you for advertising. The law treats those two differently, which is why the distinction matters.
Alongside cookies there are other techniques that do the same job, among them browser local storage and what are called pixels. This document covers all of them, not just cookies, because what counts is the effect and not the name.
03The rule we follow
In Portugal and across the European Union the rule is simple to state: storing or reading information on someone's device requires that person's prior consent, except where it is strictly necessary to deliver the service they asked for.
Prior consent means before, not after. It means a free choice, not a window with a single button. And it means refusing has to be as easy as accepting.
That is why our banner has "Accept all" and "Reject all" side by side, and a "Choose" for anyone who wants to go group by group. Measurement and advertising arrive switched off, and run only after a yes.
These are the terms we keep:
- Refuse everything in one click, as visible as accepting everything
- Choose group by group, without refusing one at a time
- Nothing runs before you choose, apart from what is essential for the page to work
- Change your mind later, in a fixed place that is easy to find
- Your choice recorded, so we can show you what you picked
04The cookies this site uses
Here they are. Measurement and advertising cookies only arrive after you say yes.
| Group | Name | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Your cookie choice | Stores what you picked in the banner, so we do not ask again on every page | 12 months |
| Measurement | _ga and _ga_ with the property number | Count visits and tell one person from another, without knowing who they are | 2 years |
| Advertising | _gcl_au | Links a click on an ad to what happened on the site | 90 days |
| Advertising | _fbp | Does the same for the ads we run on social networks | 90 days |
Measurement and advertising cookies are set by providers of ours whose infrastructure sits outside the European Union. Who they are, and under which mechanism the data leaves Europe, is in our privacy policy, and we tell anyone who asks.
This list is confirmed on the day each tool goes in, by measuring what the site actually stores, and it is updated before anything new arrives.
05What the site loads without cookies
Not everything your browser does is a cookie. There are more connections to declare, and none of them stores anything on your device.
Hosting
The server that delivers these pages logs the requests it receives, IP addresses included, for technical and security reasons. That is how any server works, and it is not used to follow you.
Counting visits without cookies
Besides the measurement tool, which runs only with your yes, the site counts visits in a way that stores nothing on your device and does not follow you between sites. Because it stores nothing, it needs no consent.
The checkout
Buying our digital products happens at another address, run by a payment service. That service's cookie rules are its own, and they live on its site.
06How to review your choice
To review your choice, use the button below. It opens the same window, with the options you picked last time, and the new choice replaces the previous one.
We keep your answer for twelve months. After that, the banner comes back and you choose again.
And the final control is always yours, inside the browser. Every browser lets you see the cookies stored, delete them, and block third-party ones outright, in the privacy and security section of the preferences.
If you want to go further, your browser's private mode clears everything when you close the window.
07Changes to this policy
This policy changes whenever what the site loads changes. The version in force is the one on this page, with the date at the top.
The rule we hold ourselves to is this: the list published here is updated before a tool goes live, not after. An out-of-date cookie policy is worse than none, because it tells the reader something that is no longer true.
